#10 New York Moves to Begin Vaccinating Children Without Parental Consent - Frank Bergman for Slay

Democrat lawmakers in New York State are pushing new legislation that will allow for children to be vaccinated or put through surgical procedures without their parents’ consent. The lawmakers behind deeply misleading legislation argue that minors should be able to make their own decisions about medical treatments. However, it has long been established in law that children are not able to consent for themselves and, as such, their parents must make decisions on a number of issues for them. The legislation would allow any child or teen under 18 to seek out and consent to medical treatment — including vaccines, dental procedures, hospitalization, and even surgery. They would be able to do so without parental consent as long as the minor appears to have the mental capacity to make that decision... The BILL: NY State Assembly Bill 2023-A6761 (nysenate.gov)

#9 Americans Are Getting De-Banked, But Some Companies are Fighting Back - Peter Gietl for Blaze Media

Recently, on "Saturday Night Live," Weekend Update host Colin Jost made fun of Donald Trump for saying he was going to fight "de-banking." “I don’t know what the hell de-bank means,” he said to the raucous applause of the clapping seals in the audience. Unfortunately, for a growing number of Americans not lucky enough to attend Harvard or marry Scarlett Johansson like Jost, de-banking and de-platforming are becoming a terrifying reality. However, a new event in Vegas seeks to fight back and help the people and companies being silenced...

Truck deliveries to New York City could be grinding to a halt. In the aftermath of last week’s decision by a New York Supreme Court judge ordering former President Donald Trump to pay a huge amount in damages in a trumped-up civil court case, a conservative trucker announced the beginnings of a boycott against the Big Apple. And it could hit where it hurts. As the New York Post reported Saturday, the trucker and social media influencer known as “Chicago1Ray” posted a video to the social media platform X on Friday night declaring that some trucks will simply refuse to make deliveries to New York City to protest...

#7 EU to Slap Apple With €500 Million Fine in Culmination of Antitrust Probe after Spotify Complaint - Aisha S Gani and Bloomberg for Fortune

The European Union is close to hitting Apple Inc. with its first-ever antitrust fine as well as a ban on App Store rules that the bloc believes thwart competition, according to the Financial Times. The fine of around €500 million ($539 million) is expected to be announced next month, the FT said, citing five sources it did not name. Apple could have been fined as much as 10% of its annual global sales. The probe was sparked by a complaint in 2019 from Sweden’s Spotify Technology SA, which claimed it was forced to ramp up its monthly subscription price to cover costs associated with Apple’s alleged stranglehold on how the App Store operates. The European Commission homed in on Apple’s so-called anti-steering rules in a formal charge sheet in February 2023, saying the conditions were unnecessary and meant customers faced higher prices...

#6 Cognitive Tests for Presidential Candidates a ‘Good Idea,’ Reagan’s Daughter Says - Stephen Katte for The Epoch Times

Former President Ronald Reagan’s daughter Patti Davis thinks cognitive tests for presidential candidates would “probably be a good idea,” as voters across party lines have expressed concerns over the ages of public officials. According to multiple polls, some voters are concerned about the ages of politicians. In a recent Ipsos poll, 59 percent of those surveyed said they thought both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are “too old” to serve as president again. In a similar poll from last November, 77 percent of respondents said they thought President Biden was too old to remain in office...

The progressive US congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has called on her fellow Michigan Democrats to vote “uncommitted” in the state’s presidential primary election – at the expense of the party’s incumbent, Joe Biden – in late February. Appearing in a video posted to X on Saturday by Listen to Michigan, a political campaign to encourage the state’s voters to vote “uncommitted” in the 27 February primary, Tlaib justified her stark display of displeasure with Biden by alluding to Israel’s military strikes on Gaza, which local authorities say have killed nearly 29,000 Palestinians since last October...

#4 Kansas City Mayor Accuses Governor of Racial ‘Dog Whistle’ for Calling Super Bowl Parade Shooters ‘Thugs’ - Anders Hagstrom Fox News and The New York Post

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas accused Missouri Gov. Mike Parson of using a racial “dog whistle” when referring to the suspected shooters at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade as “thugs.” Lucas made the comment during an appearance on local radio show “Up to Date” on Friday. He told KCUR host Steve Kraske that he has seen similar incidents of alleged racism “time and again.” Following the shooting, Parson had said, “We can’t let some thugs just take over and ruin what happened.” “I have respect for the governor. We get along well,” Lucas told Kraske. “I disagree strongly with how he would describe that situation. I certainly do think this was criminal activity. It was lawlessness, and I think that that’s troubling. But ‘thugs’ is a dog whistle in the most classic sense.”

#3 George Santos Sues Jimmy Kimmel, Says TV Host Fooled Him Into Making Embarrassing Videos - The AP for USA Today

Former U.S. Rep. George Santos alleged in a lawsuit filed Saturday that late-night host Jimmy Kimmel deceived him into making videos on the Cameo app that were used to ridicule the disgraced New York Republican on the show.
